DISCOVERY CENTRE > VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers

Our skilled volunteers spent weeks restoring the Islander Wheelhouse. This artifact from the past sits in front of Muskoka Discovery Centre on Muskoka Wharf. The Islander and its restoration team were honoured with a Town of Gravenhurst 2017 Built Heritage Award for their work. Congratulations to all!

Why we count on volunteers for success

Volunteers are an integral part of the daily operations of the Muskoka Discovery Centre (MDC). The contributions made by volunteers enhance the visitor’s experience and help achieve our goals.

Thanks to the hundred plus volunteers, the Muskoka Discovery Centre has an outstanding volunteer program which grows every year. We are able to interpret our programs, develop our archive collection, and provide our visitors with a real Muskoka experience through our volunteer efforts, enthusiasm, and involvement.

Our volunteers enjoy connecting with visitors, working on projects, and keeping the Centre shipshape. They promote our activities and act as strong advocates in the Muskoka community.  Our volunteers receive orientation, bring many skills, are ageless, and come from a variety of backgrounds. They are passionate about sharing their time, talents, and energy with us.

Presenting and caring for Muskoka’s largest collection of Heritage wooden Boats, related artifacts of the Steamboat and Resort Era, and enhancing the sailing of North America’s Oldest coal fired Steamship would not be possible without the ongoing help from our volunteers

If you have time or talent you would like to share, come join us.
