Families visiting Gravenhurst and Muskoka can spend a fun filled afternoon exploring interactive exhibits housed within 4,000 square feet of hands on fun, with a large variety of activities that will surely capture the interest of every kid!

Things To Do

With consultation from Science North, the Muskoka Discovery Centre’s interactive KIDZONE features a permanent exhibit of creative programs and activities, including a giant chalk board wall, replica steamship creation, an illuminated Light-Peg wall, building challenges using Keva planks and LEGO blocks, and ‘Dig It’ sand and water play tables. Visitors can also check out multiple “Make-It” stations, including knot tying and captain or pirate dress up.

The Goal of KIDZONE

KIDZONE is open year round for family fun, with its main goal being, “To offer a year round destination which presents dynamic and animated activities and programming for families.”

It is the hope that by combining technology with creative fun, kids will not only be thrilled and entertained by each themed activity zone, but will also pick up valuable learning from their experiences within KIDZONE.

After its successful launch in July 2015, KIDZONE will receive further support and consultation from Science North over the Winter to even further enhance the fun by presenting a wide variety of permanent activities, along with fun, seasonal and otherwise relevant pop-up exhibits throughout the entire year, so as to keep playtime fresh and each visit slightly different than the last.

Currently, there are several fixed activities in place, which include an amazing experience for kids of all ages with a float plane simulator and a die cutter where visitors can make their very own replica steamship.  There is a large, lit up Light-Peg wall, Keva planks and LEGO, along with a Dig It sand and water play table.  Make-it zones are fun areas where kids really use their imaginations and pick up skills of knot tying, colour, build and design or play dress-up.

KIDZONE is a wonderful compliment to a day in the North, exploring wooden boats, steamships and fun and activities aimed directly at the young members of the family!  Open year round, be sure to stop by for a visit- you never know what you might see!
