Construction 2024
Please note, the Bay & Beyond Construction Project will be moving into Phase 2 starting August 19th. You can learn more about the project at https://www.engagemuskoka.ca/bayandbeyond
During the 2024 season, there will be construction on Hwy 169 and Bay Street that runs adjacent to our parking lots for Muskoka Steamships and Muskoka Discovery Centre, however, both will still be accessible by vehicles. The project is set to begin June 5th.
There will be a detour that you will have to follow to get here depending on which direction you are coming from (please see map below). If you are joining us for a cruise, please allow at least 45 minutes additional travel time to get to our location, find parking, check-in/pick-up tickets, and board on time.
If possible, it is encouraged that guests park in one of the many public lots on Steamship Bay Road and then “Walk the Wharf” to Muskoka Discovery Centre and Muskoka Steamships.
The project is called ‘Bay & Beyond’ and involves new underground pipes, roadway improvements, enhancing pedestrian safety and creating more opportunities for active transportation.

To get to the Muskoka Steamships from Gravenhurst’s downtown core:
– Go west on Bay St. (MR 169), at the Canada Post building
– Follow Bay St. by staying left through the Bay and Greavette streets intersection
– Turn left onto Hughson St. and continue on Burnette St.
– Follow to Cherokee Ln. and arrive at Muskoka Steamships
To get to the Muskoka Steamships from Bala & Port Carling:
– Go east on Muskoka Rd. 169.
– Turn right onto N Muldrew Lake Rd.
– Turn left onto James St. W
– Continue on James St. W to Muskoka Rd. S (MR 18)
– Turn left onto Muskoka Rd. S
– Turn left on Bay St. (MR 169)
– Turn left onto Hughson St. and continue on Burnette St.
– Follow to Cherokee Ln. and arrive at Muskoka Steamships
Driving Directions to Muskoka Discovery Centre (updated for Phase 2 starting August 19th)
To get to the Muskoka Discovery Centre from Gravenhurst’s downtown core:
– Go west on Muskoka Rd. S (MR 18)
– Turn left onto James St. W
– Turn right onto N Muldrew Lake Rd.
– Proceed straight at the lights to Steamship Bay Road.
– Turn right into the Muskoka Discovery Centre parking lot entrance at 275 Steamship Bay Rd.
To get to the Muskoka Discovery Centre from Bala & Port Carling:
– Go east on Muskoka Rd. 169.
– Turn left at the first entrance to Steamship Bay Road.
– Turn left into the Muskoka Discovery Centre parking lot entrance at 275 Steamship Bay Rd.

– Follow to Cherokee Ln. to Burnette St. and continue on Hughson St.
– Turn Right onto Bay St. from Hughson St.
– Go east on Bay St. to Muskoka Road 18
– Turn right onto Muskoka Road 18 at the Canada Post Building and proceed to James St. W
– Turn right onto James St. W from Muskoka Road 18
– Turn right onto N. Muldrew Lake Rd. from James St. W.
– Proceed straight at the lights to Steamship Bay Road.
