What is the best weather for spectacular fall colours?

The best weather
You decide, but we think this may be an excellent year. The best weather conditions for great Fall colours are a growing season with plentiful moisture followed by dry, cool and sunny conditions in the autumn – especially when the days are warm and the nights are cool. But not so cool there is frost. That sounds like the weather we have been experiencing this year.
For autumn, we run many 1 hour cruises, because the shores of Muskoka Bay are lined with a combination of deciduous and evergreen trees. As you know deciduous trees are the ones that change colour, with the exception of the tamarack – a pine tree that is not evergreen.
One of our favourite sites is a sumac tree glowing red…or maybe it is a poplar sparkling yellow…Do we have to pick just one?
The leaves are already turning, but they haven’t reached their peak. So if you are waiting to join one of our Fall colour cruises, plan to visit from mid-September to mid-October. We have our fingers crossed that you are going to have the best weather.
